Over the past 8 weeks, we have gotten to know each other better and have helped each other with insights and direction in writing our research papers. I want to thank everyone for their input and insights to my topic of social-emotional development. I went through many stages of learning and discovery while writing the research paper. First, I could not believe that we had to write a 12-15 page paper, I was afraid that I could not write that many pages. Second, the task of finding nine sources scared me but I found them fairly easily and had problems narrowing them down. Third, the actual process of writing the paper and the time that it consumed. Now, we are at the end of our journey for this class and I have learned so much about writing and a lot about each of you in the class that I do have the overwhelming feeling any longer but it has been replaced with one of success and the making of new friends.
I would also like to thank Professor Susie, she has been such a help and has responded so quickly to any questions as well as grading assignments promptly. I was in one class where the professor did not have anything graded until the last module, it was very difficult trying to figure out what she expected from the students but Professor Susie made it very easy to overcome any mistakes before the next module. Thank you Professor Susie for your professionalism.
I wish everyone in the class success in implementing their advocacy plan and also on their paper for this class. Good luck and thanks to everyone!
I too would like to thank you and all follow peers who have helped me tremendously during thei course of this class. I too have learned from you Kathy the importance of social/emotional development and its place in our early childhood environments. I belive the social/emotional development and learning must take place before any child is actually ready for the academic learning. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge wit me. Good luck in your future endevours.
ReplyDeleteKathy-
ReplyDeleteIt has been a pleasure getting to know you as well. I wish you much luck and success in your future endeavors.
Thank you!

Katherine social and emotional stages are measured through the skills a child develops as he/she grows. Although it is easier to see physical growth, the development of the social and emotional health of a child is essential to his/her appropriate behavior, understanding of life and transition to adulthood. Social emotional development helps shape a child into what he will become later in life by teaching proper reactions to emotional matters. Learning to interact properly with others allows people to function in the everyday world of family, friends and career. Teaching children truth and respect at an early age can have a huge impact on leading well-balanced, age-appropriate actions throughout her life. Well-grounded social and emotional development will give children the ability to handle situations with a calm, honest demeanor. I hope you were able to find the information you needed as it related to your subject. In addition I want to thank you for the support and information provided to me on bilingual education. Continue to work and help children with their social and emotional development. Keep up the good work and I wish you the best.
ReplyDeleteI too enjoyed everybody insight and gain alot of input, and I appreciated it all. I loved how each of us were respectful off one anothers opinions. I was too fearful of writing a twelve page paper only because writing has never been my strong suite. This semster really became a struggle for me because I had to seek outside resources for tutoring because my regular tutor quit. I then had to rearrange my schudule and that was crazy and hard to do. I still got my paper done in the nick of time, which was hard for me to accept because I usually do my papers ahead of time.
ReplyDeleteKathy,
ReplyDeleteI am glad you learned a lot in this course as it is not easy to write a research paper. Good luck in 455 and implementing your paper.
Kathy,
ReplyDeleteThank you for providing me with the support I needed from my peers about advocacy issue. I appreciate the comments you put on my blog and shared your personal experiences about mathematics. I shared the same anxiety you have expressed about writing a paper. I feel a sense of accomplishment (although i have not completed the class just yet). I am excited about moving on and implementing my advocacy issue and look forward to seeing you next quarter? Good Luck as we close this quarter!
